Abstract

856,234. Valves. SVENSKA FLAKFABRIKEN A.B. March 18, 1959 [March 20, 1958], No. 9371/59. Class 135. A quick-closing valve, e.g. for ventilating ducts, comprises a valve closure member 4 pivoted centrally thereof on a stem 7 which is springily carried on a rotatable arm 6 rotated by a lever 11 through a pair of toggle links 13, these links being operated by a member connected to the knuckle 12 thereof-e.g. the ram of a compressed-air actuating cylinder 15-and being arranged to swing slightly past their deadcentre position to lock the valve closed. Stem 7 extends loosely through the arm 6 and carries an interposed pack of dished spring washers 10. The closure member is biased against the arm by a spring 16. An annular raised portion 17 of the valve seat is contacted by a resilient gasket 18 on the closure member. It is stated that the compressed-air cylinder 15 may be replaced by means utilizing the force of gravity for the closing of the valve.
