Abstract

798,150. Frequency dividing circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. (Nippon Electric Co., Ltd.). Jan. 16, 1957, No. 1591/57. Class 40 (6). In an electric frequency dividing arrangement in which an oscillator B is synchronized at a frequency fo/n which is a sub-harmonic of the frequency fo of a second or driving oscillator A, a positive voltage E is applied to the cathode of the first oscillator B sufficient to prevent oscillation. When the driving oscillator A is working, a part of its output is tapped off and rectified to provide a positive bias which is applied to the grid of the first valve B to enable it to oscillate. Thus a monitor circuit D connected to the output of the first oscillator B will show an indication if either of the valves ceases to oscillate. The system may be extended if more dividing stages are used, and may be applied to a series of multivibrators.
