Abstract

795,679. Vehicles equipped with conveyers for unloading materials. PODMORE, W. Oct. 18, 1956 [July 20, 1955], No. 20953/55. Classes 78 (1) and 78 (4). An elevator 21 carried by the tailboard 46 of a vehicle has a boot 20 receiving material from the vehicle to be delivered from the upper end of the elevator. As illustrated the elevator is formed in sections 21a whose number may be varied to provide the required height of delivery and which enclose interlocking screws forming a screw elevator. Material delivered through a flap 25 controlled by handles 26 from the vehicle into the boot 20 is delivered to the elevator 21 by a screw 28 on each side. The elevator and screws 28 may be driven from the power take-off of the vehicle engine or from a separate power unit. The screw elevator may be replaced by a bucket elevator. The body 10 of the vehicle may tip to deliver material to the boot 20. The device may comprise a fitting for attachment to the tailboard of an existing vehicle or may be detachable together with the tailboard.
