Abstract

451,435. Conveyers. MAVOR & COULSON, Ltd., and THOMSON, J., 47, Broad Street, Mile-End, Glasgow. Feb. 27, 1935, No. 6226. [Class 78 (i)] In apparatus for piling material in bulk, in which a main conveyer resting on the inclined surface of a dump, delivers to an auxiliary slueing conveyer near the point of deposit the slueing axis of the auxiliary conveyer is vertical, and the point of delivery of the auxiliary conveyer is also variable longitudinally. In the illustrated form the auxiliary conveyer C slues round the vertical axis H fitted on the inclined skid member E and the belt is driven from a motor 4, which may in some cases also drive the main conveyer B. Delivery from the main to the auxiliary conveyer is offected through a hopper 8 and shoot 9 carried on the skid member, which may also be utilized, as shown, to support the delivery end of the conveyer B. To effect the longitudinal adjustment the conveyer C is movable bodily by a winding cable 10 under the end of the main conveyer B, thus shortening or lengthening the combination. In a modification, the conveyer C does not move bodily but is in telescoping parts with the belt passing round an idle loop which can be taken up when the overall length of the conveyer is increased. In a further construction, a discharging or throw-off plate is adjustable to various points on the auxiliary conveyer.
