Abstract
792,318. Liquid-fuel burners. FLAVEL & CO., Ltd., S. May 9, 1956 [Feb. 9, 1955], No. 3796/55. Class 75(1) An oil fuel burner comprises a combustion space 9, to which oil is supplied and then vaporized and burnt, an air supply chamber 11 from which air is supplied to the combustion chamber 9, a tubular coil 24 above the combustion space 9 and a baffle 29 which deflects the flame on to the coil 24, the coil 24 being supplied with water which is converted into steam fed under pressure into the open end of an air supply tube 21 leading to the air supply chamber 11 so that an air supply is induced into the air supply chamber 11 in admixture with the steam. A burner bowl 1 has a dished position 3 surrounding an aperture 4 from which a tubular nozzle 5 extends upwards, and an outwardly inclined position 2 terminating in a flange 13 which is bolted, with the interposition of washer 17 to leave an annular space 18, to a mounting plate 16 above the chamber 11. Inner and outer perforated sleeves 6, 7 are seated on the burner bowl 1 and are supplied with fuel from a pipe 10 and with steam and air from the chamber 11 through the aperture 4 and the annular space 18. The length of the tube 21 relative to the burner dimensions is critical and is proportioned to give optimum results.
