Abstract
784,045. Oil-blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. March 13, 1956 [March 14, 1955], No. 7779/56. Class 38 (5). A circuit-breaker has a conventional extinguishing chamber 1 for heavy current interruption, and for low current interruption has a chamber containing a hollow movable contact 6 carried by a tubular member 7 connected to a piston 8 movable in a cylinder 10. On lowering of the bridge 3 to open the circuit, the piston 8 creates a vacuum in cylinder 10 during the first part of the contact movement, and the cylinder is put in communication with the space 5 through the centre of the movable contact during the last part of the movement. A blast of oil is thereby sucked through the space between the contacts into the cylinder. During reclosing, this oil is vented at 14. The contacts in chamber 1 separate before contacts 6, 17.
