Abstract

775,213. Latch fastenings. WILMOTBREEDEN, Ltd. Dec. 19, 1955 [Jan. 21, 1955], No. 1865/55. Class 44. In a vehicle door fastening of the kind wherein a push button 6, which may or may not incorporate a barrel lock, is provided for releasing the catch from the outside of the vehicle, the push button being slidable within a bore in a body part 5, the body part is mounted directly or indirectly upon a back plate 4 of the fastening and is adapted to project through an aperture in the outer panel 7 of the door into a recess 9 formed in the rear face of a handle 8 which is formed as a separate part and is adapted to be attached to the outer panel 7 of the door. This construction permits of variations in the spacings between the outer panel 7 and the main frame of the door. As shown the body part 5 is attached to the back plate by means of a curved arm 5a the outer end of which has a recess 5b and is vertically slidable between the back plate 4 and a bracket 10 secured to the back plate so that the body part can be adjusted relative to the back plate. It is secured to the back plate by a screw 11 which passes through a hole in the back plate to engage a screw threaded hole in the bracket 10.
