Abstract

575,740. Locks and latches. PARKES & SONS, Ltd., J., FRYER, E. C., and BUTTER, F. J. March 31, 1944, No. 5945. [Class 44] In a door or window having a metal front section bar E, and provided with a lock comprising a fore end plate D to secure the lock to the bar E, the lock case A is provided with one or more lugs F having dowels f passing through ample clearance holes in the bar E and fitting in socket holes in the plate D. The dowels may be on the plate D and the holes in the lugs. Screws d3 secure the plate D to the dowels f. The case A is also secured to the door by screws engaging nuts G which float on the back plate of the lock case to enable the nuts to be registered with the holes in the door frame. The movement of the nut is limited by a U-spring g<1> which embraces the nut, frictionally engages a stud a<1> set in the back plate and contains a stud a<2> set in the back plate and acting as a stop for the spring and nut.
