Abstract

774,619. Valve guides. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. May 2, 1955 [May 3, 1954], No. 12687/55. Class 7 (2). To prevent lubricating oil being drawn down the valve stem into the combustion chamber, the valve guide surface 9 is interrupted at 11 by a connection 10 communicating with atmosphere, or with an equalizing space subject to substantially atmospheric pressure, which prevents transmission of suction beyond that point. The valve guide is provided with slots 11 leading to the passage 10 and in an engine having valves in line, a common passage 10 is connected to all the valve guides.
