Abstract

171,027. Dodson, E. Oct. 14, 1920. Spray carburettors. -In carburettors of the kind having a slowrunning port which is cut off by the throttle valve or by the stem thereof when the throttle is opened, the leakage of rich mixture between the throttle and its housing is prevented by providing the throttle or stem with a groove or the like adapted to put the slowrunning device into communication with the atmosphere when it is cut off from the induction pipe. As shown, the rotary throttle valve A is provided with a groove A<3> which, as the throttle is opened, puts the slow-running port C into communication with an atmospheric port B. In modifications, the groove A<3> is provided in the side of a sliding piston valve, in the stem of a butterfly throttle valve, or in the end of a barrel throttle valve.
