A door latch of the kind releasable by a pushbutton on each side of the door, the inside pushbutton 4 being positively connected to the latch bolt 9, has a latch securing hook 18 visibly mounted on the inside of the door and adapted for directly locking the inside pushbutton 4 when the latch bolt is in the engaged position. The latch comprises a plate 5 having a sleeve 6 rigidly connected to it in which the push-button 4 is slidably mounted. The pushbutton 4 is pivotally coupled by a screw connection 7 to a two-armed lever 8 which is pivotally mounted by means of a pin 14 on the plate 5. The latch bolt 9 is also a two-armed lever having a hook 11 at one end and it is pivotally mounted on the latch plate 5 by means of a pin 10 so that its other arm 12 pivotally engages an aperture 13 in one arm of the lever 8. The other arm of the lever 8 is adapted to be engaged by the push-button (not shown) on the outside of the door. The lever 8 is biased. by a spring 16 coiled around its pin 14 so that the latch bolt is biased to the locked position and a guide 15 is provided for the latch bolt. The latch securing hook 18 is pivotally mounted on the plate 5 and is adapted to engage an annular groove 20 in the button 4 to prevent it being pushed in and since the button is positively connected to the lever 8 and the lever 8 is in turn positively connected to the latch bolt, the latch bolt is held in its locking position.
