Class 100(1) Swinging grippers 23, which are mounted on a shaft 24 carried by an oscillating shaft 10 and transfer sheets from a feed-table to the grippers of the impression cylinder of a printing-machine, are opened and closed by means of a push-rod 9 which is mounted within the shaft 10. As shown, the shaft 10, which is oscillated about its axis in fixed bearings by means 37 connected to the impression cylinder, is hollow and has mounted therein the push-rod 9 which is urged outwardly, by a spring 33, against a roller 35 on a bell-crank lever 30, 31. The arm 30 of this lever carries a further roller 36 engaging face cam 26 on a gear-wheel 27 secured to the impression cylinder, whereby the rod 9 is reciprocated within the shaft 10. The other arm 31 of the bell-crank lever co-operates with an adjustable stop 32. Housing members 11 are adjustably secured on the shaft 10 in positions where the latter is apertured, and each carries a plunger or piston 15 which is urged inwardly by a spring 14 into contact with one end of a two-armed lever 16 pivoted at 20. The other end of the lever 16 engages a collar 18 secured to the push-rod 9, so that when the rod 9 is reciprocated, the plungers 15 are also reciprocated radially of the shaft 10. Each plunger 15 has a pin 22 engaging a slot in a lever secured to the shaft 24 which is thus rocked. The grippers 23 are mounted on the shaft 24, which, together 'with corresponding pads 25, is carried in brackets depending from, and fixed to, the shaft 10.
