Class 100(1) In sheet-feeding apparatus for a printing press comprising a swinging gripper system for transferring sheets from a feedboard to a cylinder, front register stops are incorporated which can be adjusted whilst the system is in motion by manual control means bearing on the periphery of the rocker shaft on which the gripper system rocks. !Brackets 12, fixed on a tubular rocker shaft 11, carry two crossbars 14, 15, the bar 14 being rockable and carrying the usual gripper fingers 16 for gripping sheets against feet on brackets 18 (not shown) clamped on the bar 15. Also clamped on the bar 15 are several brackets 19, each of which is recessed to accommodate a piston 24 and compression spring 26, and a rod 23, secured to the piston, carries at one end a front register stop 20 and at the other end is connected to one end 27 of bell-crank lever pivoted to the bracket 19. The other end 30 of the lever is connected to a control rod 31 extending diametrically through the rocker shaft 11. the rod being screw-threaded to receive a knurled nut 32. The rod 31 is spring-loaded by means 34, 35 to prevent accidental rotation thereof. Turning of the nut 32 in one direction or the other moves the register stop 20 relatively to the bracket 19 and therefore advances on retards the final sheet register produced by the stop. The oscillatory travel of the nut 32 is comparatively small, and adjustment of the stop 20 can therefore be effected without stopping the press.
