[Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii)] In a sheet-feeding apparatus for rotary printing-machines such as manuscript hectographic machines, the sheets are fed by feed rollers 14, 15 which are driven intermittently by a clutch and act to feed positively the sheets during the first part of their motion, the subsequent feeding of the sheets being effected solely by the action of the printing-roller 10 and impression roller 11. The roller 14 may serve as the damping roller which acts upon the sheets prior to receiving an impression. The roller 14 is driven from the printing cylinder shaft by a gear wheel 42 and a bevel-gear train which drives a freely mounted gear 37 adapted to be clutched to the shaft of the roller 14 by a sliding clutch member operated by an oscillating lever 57 operated by a cam 55 on the wheel 42. The lever 57 is mounted on a pivot which can be adjusted by a screw 64' operated by a knurled adjusting nut 63, so as to vary the feed time in relation to the cylinder 10. The sheets are fed to front stops 26 when the roller 14 is separated from the roller 15 which projects through a slot in the feed table 13, the impression roller 11 at this time being held away from cylinder 10 by means of a stud 25 engaging a notch 24 in a friction plate 23 on one of the pivoted arms 21 in which the roller 11 is mounted. Extensions of the arms act upon the spring-pressed sliding bearings in which the roller 15 is mounted. When the sheet is registered and cylinder 10 rotated, the roller 11 rises and also the roller 15, and a screw 34 acts upon an arm 31 on the shaft of the registering devices so that these devices are depressed out of position. The train which drives the roller 14 can also be arranged to drive the damping supply rollers.
