In rotary printing-machine wherein sheets are fed towards the printing-cylinders 16, 17 by a conveyer 21, the sheets are each registered at the front on a table 20 by front stops 25, and side-registered against an abutment plate 40 by a reciprocating sucker 30 which subsequently slips over the sheet when the latter meets the plate 40. The sucker 30 is vertically adjustable in a body 31 secured by a screw on a transverse rod 32 carried in a pair of arms 50 pivoted at 51 to the machine side frames 15. One arm 50 is oscillated by means of a cam 52 on the cylinder 16 to impart vertical movements to the sucker 30, and the rod 32 is also reciprocated axially through a cam 91 on the cylinder 16, and a bell-crank lever 93, to enable the sucker 30 to move the sheets sidewise, against the abutment plate 40. The plate 40 is carried by a body 41 secured by a screw on a transverse rod 33 also carried in the oscillating arms 50. The sucker and plate bodies can be slid along their respective bars for operation at the opposite side of the machine. Vertical. adjustment of the plate 40 relative to the body 41 is effected by rotating an eccentric pin engaging a slot in the plate. Lateral adjustment of the body 41 along the rod 33 is obtained by a micrometer screw 76 mounted in a bracket 70 adjustably secured on the rod 33. Suction is established to the sucker 30 through a valve 83, pipe 84. rigid T-pipe 81 secured to the body 41, and pipe 80. The T-pipe 81 communicates with atmosphere through a passage in the body 41 which is controlled by a needle valve 85 (not shown), whereby the. degree of vacuum established at the sucker 30 can be controlled. The valve 83 may comprise a relief valve controlled automatically, by the movements of the bell-crank lever 93 and a slotted connection 101, such that the application of suction to the sucker 30 is released when the latter leaves the sheet in contact with the abutment plate 40.
