Abstract

767,273. Stapling. CARSTAIRS, L. S. Nov. 5, 1954 [Nov. 10, 1953], No. 31096/53. Class 89 (3). In a pistol-like stapling device in which staples from a turret-type magazine 70 are ejected by a spring-advanced driver 19, operation of the device is effected by gripping two levers 30, 31 pivoted at 33 and coupled together by a chain 40. The driver is retracted against its spring 28 by a spring-pressed pawl 45 on a lever 43 engaging a notch 48 in a driver block 20, the pawl being subsequently disengaged by a fixed projection 32 to release the driver for its driving stroke. The magazine 70 is rotatable by a hand-wheel 74 to bring different banks of staples into line with a slot 75 and with a staple pusher 78 which is advanced by a pusher slide 79 backed by a spring 81.
