Abstract

767,061. Volume control. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Dec. 15, 1954 [Dec. 15, 1953], No. 36324/54. Class 40 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] In an amplifier of variable gain a negative feed-back voltage produced in one stage is fed back to a preceding stage via a network whose attenuation is controllable by a direct current. The cathode circuits of valves 15, 17 are coupled together via blocking condensers 22, 23 and a ladder network comprising series fixed resistors 29, 30, 31 and shunt current-variable resistors 24, 27, 28, 25. Blocking condensers 34, 351, 37, 38 and chokes 32, 33 are provided so that a D.C. control current applied to terminals 35, 36 passes through the resistors 24, 27, 28, 25 in series. The control current may comprise the anode current of the valve 15, a gain control voltage being applied to its grid.
