Abstract
678,061. Valve amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. March 15, 1951 [July 11, 1950], No. 17373/50. Class 40 (vi). In an amplifier which may exhibit substantially zero output impedance and infinite inputimpedance, the input is applied to the anode of a first valve 2 and the cathode of a second valve 4, the load being connected between the cathode and anode respectively. An amplified or attenuated signal derived from the input is applied between the grid of valve 2 and cathode of valve 4 while a similar signal is applied between the anode of the valve 2 and the grid of valve 4. It is shown mathematically that by suitable choice of the co-efficients K1, K2 the output impedance may be made zero, the input impedance being negative. By the use of a positive shunt-resistance equal in value to the negative resistance the input resistance may be made infinite with a shunt negative reactance. The valves may be shunted with resistors.
