605,427. Two-way transmission. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Dec. 22, 1945, No. 34842. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1944. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL (c)] A circuit for amplifying two frequencies comprises a pair of cathode coupled valves a firstfrequency f1 being applied to the input of the first valve and a second frequency f2 to the second valve, the amplified output of the second valve being at the frequency f1 only and of the first valve the frequency f2 only. Input frequencies f1, f2, Fig. 1, are applied through filters 3, 9 having zero impedance at frequencies other than f1 and f2 respectively to the grids of valves 7, 13 coupled by a common cathode load of an inductor 15 and resistor 17. Filters 23, 19 having similar characteristics to filters 3, 9 are connected in the output leads of valves 13, 7 so that valve 7 operates as a cathode follower for frequency f1 driving valve 13 as a grounded grid amplifier, the valves operating in the opposite manner for frequency f2. Further stages may be added, Fig. 2 (not shown).
