Abstract
716,543. Valve amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Sept. 7, 1951 [Nov. 29, 1950], No. 29292/50. Class 40 (6) Frequency-conscious feedback is used to extend the response of an amplifier to frequencies at which it would otherwise be falling. As applied to an amplifier, Fig. 2, comprising a first stage 1 resistance-capacity coupled to a cathode-follower 7, loss of gain at the higher frequencies caused by stray capacitance Cl in shunt to the load resistance R1 is compensated by feedback introduced by a capacitor C2 interconnecting the cathode circuits. As shown, negative feedback is applied to the stage 1 by means of a resistance RF between anode and grid of the valve. Another embodiment, Fig. 3, comprises a four stage amplifier in which negative feedback is applied over the first three stages V1-3 by means of a resistance RF interconnecting the cathode circuits of the first and third valves ; a capacitor CF in shunt with the resistance RF extends the highfrequency response. The overall response is extended by means of a capacitor Cx between the cathodes of the first and final stages.
