Abstract

766,010. Windscreen cleaners. TRICOFOLBERTH, Ltd. Dec. 30, 1954 [Jan. 11, 1954], No. 754/54. Class 138(1) A windscreen wiper arm comprises a mounting member 1 fitted to an actuating shaft, a blade-carrying member 5 provided at its outer end with means for attachment to a wiper blade and pivotally connected at 9 at its inner end to the member 1 for movement through approximately 90 degrees towards and away from the windscreen, a spring 12 concealed within the member 5 and urging the member 5 towards the windscreen and means 10 on the member 1, other than the visible outside surface thereof, to engage the member 5 and so limit its outward pivotal movement. The mounting member 1 has a socket 2 to engage the wiper actuating shaft and the blade-carrying member 5 is formed with a channel member 7. The leaf spring 12, the flat surface of which normally abuts a roller 10 on a pin 1] between ears 4 of the mounting member 1, is provided with a curved end 13. When the wiper arm 5, 7 is moved away from the windscreen to the position shown in dotted lines, the end 14 of the channel 7 is prevented from contacting the upper surface of the member 1, by the curved end 13 engaging with the roller to limit the movement of the arm. In an alternative construction, instead of providing the spring with a curved end, ears 8 of the channel 7 are each provided with an arcuate slot and the slots engage with pins extending from the ears 4. When the pins bear against the ends of the slots further rotation of the arm is prevented. The mounting member may be provided with an integral transverse rib instead of the roller and pin and the section 5 may be an integral extension of the spring 12.
