Abstract

778.069. Windscreen cleaners. TRICO-FOLBERTH, Ltd. March 1, 1955 [Feb. 5, 1954] No. 3491/54. Class 138(1) In a windscreen wiper of the kind having a strip of rubber 1, Fig. 1, a resilient support 2 extending along or adjacent one edge of the strip 1 and a mounting device for connecting the support 2 to an actuating arm, the device comprises two or more yokes, one end of each yoke being connected by a positive connection (e.g. 7, 15 and 18) to the support 2, the opposite end of each yoke except the innermost yoke 16 being slidably connected (e.g. at 10 and 17) to the adjacent yoke at a point intermediate the ends of the adjacent yoke and the opposite end of the innermost yoke 16 being connected to the support 2 by a resilient or hinged connection 21. As shown in Fig. 1, an outer yoke 6, having a clip 22 for connection to a wiper arm, is connected at one end 7 to the resilient support 2 engaging in grooves in the sides of the rubber wiper 1, whilst its opposite end is connected at 10 to an inner yoke 9. One end of the yoke 9 is connected at 15 to the support 2 whilst its opposite end is connected at 17 to the innermost yoke 16. One end of the yoke 16 is connected at 18 to the support whilst its opposite end 19 is hinged by a pin 21 to a bent-up end part 20 of the support 2. The connections 7, 15 and 18 are each formed as shown in Fig. 4, wherein ears 11 on the yoke ends engage in slots 12 in the sides of the support 2, the slots being of substantially the same widths as the ears 11 so that whilst rotation and vertical movements of the ears relative to the support are permitted, relative longitudinal movement is prevented. The connections 10, 17, are each of the form shown in Fig. 6, wherein ears 13 on the yoke ends engage in slots 14 of adjacent yokes, the slots being wider than the ears to alow relative movements longitudinally of the blade as well as relative rotation and vertical movements between the yokes. The clip 22 is arranged so as to be reversible on the yoke 6. Specifications 702,259, 702,849, .702,899 and 702,900 are referred to.
