Abstract

639,341. Windscreen-cleaners. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Dec. 5, 1947, No. 32197. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1946. [Class 138 (i)] . A windscreen wiper comprises a flexible wiper blade, having a wiping edge and a flexible reinforcement consisting of a plurality of links arranged end to end along the back edge of the blade and connected together, so as to provide support throughout the length of the wiping edge. A windscreen wiper blade, Fig. 1, comprises a flexible wiping element 8 which may be moulded or formed in a plurality of stepped rubber plies, and a plurality of channel holders 7, 7<SP>1</SP> relatively movable and connected together, which holders reinforce the back of the wiper 8. Each holder 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, is provided on both sides with a longitudinal groove 15. In order that the holders may be pivotally and longitudinally movable with respect to each other, forked ears 12 extending from one holder and which have inwardly-pressed projections 14, straddle the adjacent holder so that the projections 14 engage in the grooves 15 of the latter holder. The outer channel holders 7, Fig. 1, are pivoted at 10 to the ends of a bridge member 9 having an attaching device 11 for connecting with the wiper arm. More than one intermediate holder 7<SP>1</SP> may be used and in this case each holder 7<SP>1</SP> is provided with forked ears 12 at one end only and one end holder 7 is then also provided with forked ears at one end adjacent to a holder 71.
