Abstract

755,120. Windscreen cleaners. PRODUCTIVE INVENTIONS, Inc. Feb. 17, 1954 [March 9, 1953], No. 4648/54. Class 138(1) A windshield wiper squeegee comprises an attaching portion securable to a wiper arm and a wiping head connected by a hinge portion to the attaching portion, the cross-section of the wiping head and/or hinge portion adjacent both extremities of the squeegee being different from the cross-section intermediate the extremities, whereby the tendency of the squeegee to flex is less adjacent the extremities of the squeegee. The squeegee, Figs 2 and 3, has an attaching portion 8, provided with grooves 11 to receive longitudinal parts 12 of a flexible backing member, and connected by a web or hinge portion 10 to the wiper head 9. Grooves 15 on either side of the web 10 terminate short of the ends of the squeegee so that the end portions 16 restrict lateral flexing of the head 9 relative to the portion 8 at the ends of the squeegee. The flexible backing parts 12 are connected to the ends of secondary yokes in turn connected to a primary yoke attachable to the wiper arm in known manner. Clips are provided at the ends of the backing to retain the wiper blade assembled with the secondary yokes. Modifications of the ends of the squeegee, are shown in Figs. 5, 7, 9 and 11.
