Abstract

683,270. Windscreen cleaners. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. March 18, 1948 [March 22, 1947], No. 11573/51. Divided out of 683,201. Class 138 (i). A windscreen wiper comprises a flexible squeegee body 1 having a wiping edge 2 conformable to the curvature of the windscreen and a flexible backing strip 5' attached to the body 1, wherein a pair of crossed members 12' having means for attachment to a wiper arm 8 are connected at their ends at 13' to the strip 5' by means which permit relative movement between the members 12' and the strip 5' as the edge 2 conforms itself to the windscreen. The members 12', Fig. 4, are flat springs and the connections at 13' are pins engaging in slots in the strip 5<SP>1</SP>. The members 12<SP>1</SP> are connected by pin and slot means 11' to the ends of a channelled primary yoke 10' which can receive therein the members or secondary yokes 12<SP>1</SP> as the wiper flexes. The connections 11' may be nearer to the inner ends of the yokes 12' than to the outer ends as shown. The backing strip 5' has body embracing fingers 6 along its opposite margins to grip downwardly converging faces of the squeegee, below which faces are provided strengthening ribs. Specification 683,271 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 666,474.
