Abstract

777,094. Windscreen cleaners. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. July 7, 1955 [Aug. 2, 1954], No. 19663/55. Class 138(1) A windscreen wiper arm assembly comprises a socket 10 for mounting the assembly on an actuator shaft, an intermediate arm member 30 pivoted at 20 to the socket and an outer wiper blade carrying member 40 pivoted at 38 to the member 30, the socket and member 30 and the members 30 and 40 being interconnected by helical springs 26, 42, to urge the members 30 and 40 in one and the same direction of rotation about their pivots 20. 38. The arm members are of channel section and on extension 16 of the socket has a narrow portion-18 carrying the pivot 20 and embraced by the sides of the arm 30. A narrow portion 36 of the arm 30 carries the pivot 38 and is embraced by the sides of the arm 40. The spring 26 is connected to a lug 24, on a pin 22 carried by the portion 18 and to a pin 28 or a retainer block 32 on the arm member 30. Similarly the spring 42 is -connected to a lug 48 or a pin 50 carried by the portion 36 and to a pin 44'or a retainer lock 46 carried by the arm member 40.
