Class 64(3) In a heat exchanger in which a fluid is directed in a tortuous path over a bank of tubes a by transverse baffles and in which one ,end of each tube is of enlarged hexagonal cross-section, the other end of the tube being plain and fitted with a sleeve d one end of which is enlarged to the same cross-section as the enlarged end of the tube so that when a group of such tubes with their associated sleeves are assembled within a casing (not shown) together with baffles h perforated to pass over the plain ends of the tubes the hexagonal portions produce a " honeycomb face at each end of the heat exchanger, the contacting faces of the hexagonal portions of the tubes and of the sleeves, are united by dipsoldering, whereby the assembly is self-supporting in the casing without the aid of tube plates. At the same time, the sleeves d become united to the plain ends of the tubes. Specification .756,214 is referred to.
