A packing element for use between two relatively movable inner and outer members comprises a V-section ring of resilient material, such as rubber, formed by a radially inner O-ring connected by webs to two axially spaced radially outer 0-rings. The invention, as applied to the sealing of the stem of a plunger valve, is similar to that described in Specification 763,187.
