617,957. Oil seals. GENERAL TIRE & RUBBER CO. June 5, 1945, No. 14150. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1944. [Class 122 (v)] In a sealing ring for insertion between concentric cylindrical surfaces 1, 2 and comprising a body of elastic and pliable material having a positioning rim 3 with a cylindrical face 4 engageable with one of the cylindrical surfaces, a flexible central web 7 integral with the rim 3, flexible flanges 8 extending laterally from the web and spaced laterally from the rim 3 to form channels opening to opposite sides of the ring, spring means 11 in each channel of the ring exerting pressure on the inner faces of the flanges and a cylindrical metal reinforcement 5 in the rim, spaced from the face thereof and bridging the web 7, the ring has perforations 6 by which the elastic material engages therewith.
