Abstract
1437343 Joint-making; packing; seals D R DENNY 6 Aug 1973 [6 May 1972] 21250/72 Heading F2B A sealing ring 10, particularly for a pipe joint, comprises an elastomeric annular body 11 having laterally and radially-inwardly projecting sealing lips 12. A ring 15 of relatively rigid material, e.g. steel, is attached to the ring 10, which may be of nitrile rubber, either permanently, e.g. by bonding, or detachably by a stem 16 thereof engaging a groove 14 in the ring, as shown. The outer periphery of the body is concrete and forms a further pair of laterally but radially-outwardly projecting lips 17. An inner ring (not shown) of relatively rigid material may be attached to the ring 10 in place of, or in addition to, the outer ring 15.
