Abstract
In a gas turbine plant, the harmful effects due to rapid corrosion or to the formation of undesirable deposits attributable to vanadium compounds and to alkali metal or alkaline earth metal sulphates are alleviated by adding to the fuel, or introducing into the combustion space, or mixing with the combustion products a substance containing aluminium silicate having an alumina content of not less than 50 per cent and not more than 70 per cent. The additive may be mixtures of alumina and koalin, or alumina and montmorillonite, or may be a diaspore clay of low iron content. The content of fluxing substances such as alkali metal oxides, alkaline earth metal oxides, or iron oxides should not exceed 6.0 per cent.
