757,174. Spinning and winding yarn. REINERS, W. Sept. 24, 1954 [Nov. 3, 1953], No. 27616/54. Class 120 (2). A suction nozzle 3 for catching the ends 5 of threads in thread winding or spinning machines is provided in its mouth with thread-retaining means comprising a serrated or roughened surface 6 which tends to prevent the thread 5 being withdrawn from the nozzle. The surface 6 may comprise a strip of emery or sandpaper or it may be formed as a comblike element. Alternatively, the mouth of the nozzle may be roughened by sand blasting or by a machining operation.
