Abstract
1,031,608. Winding yarns. ELITEX SDRUZENI PODNIKU TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTRI. Aug. 14,1964 [Aug. 14,1963], No. 33162/64. Heading D1J. A reserve of yarn is accumulated between a knotter 8 and the bobbin 14 being wound so that on thread breakage the bobbin may continue being wound while the yarn ends are being knotted, the yarn then being fed to the reservoir at a speed greater than the winding speed to replenish the reservoir. In one example a pneumatic nozzle 9 draws yarn 1 off cop 2 through brake 4, electronic clearer 5 or mechanical clearer 6 and sensor 7, cutting mechanism 18, and gripper 19 for holding the broken yarn end, the air flow speed in the nozzle and thus the yarn speed being dependent on the extent the yarn fills the perforated vessel or wire cage 11 and thus blocks the apertures thereof. In the case of heavier yarns, the yarn may be passed around a pair of rollers rotating at a faster speed than driving drum 15 before reaching the nozzle 9, the yarn slipping on the rollers when the reservoir is full or the yarn breaks. Alternatively the yarn may be fed by two rollers into a chamber against the gravity-and/or spring-pressure of the top thereof, the rollers being stopped either on thread breakage, or on the top being pushed sufficiently far back. One knotter may serve more than one winding unit and when more than one yarn breakage occurs at the same time the winding speed is diminished to avoid emptying of the yarn reservoirs.
