Abstract

750,904. Sheet delivery apparatus. TIMSONS, Ltd., and TIMSON, E. A. June 2, 1954 [March 24, 1953], No. 8092/53. Class 100 (1). [Also in Group VIII] Cutting-apparatus.-A device for forming sheets from a travelling web 3 by cutting the web transversely at intervals includes a pair of cutting drums 1, 2 and a safety member 9 mounted adjacent the path of travel of the web 3 in the vicinity, and in advance, of the nip between the drum 1 and 2. The member 9 comprises a roller mounted between levers 10 secured to a spindle 11 rotatable by means of a cable 13 attached to a lever 12. The arrangement is such that, under normal running conditions, the member 9 does not interfere with the travel of the web 3, but that upon the arrest of the web feed the cable 13 is operated to press the end of the web following the last cut in the latter away from the nip of the drums 1, 2. The cable 13 may be operated in response to, or in correlation with, the tripping mechanism of a rotary printing machine, e.g. of the kind described in Specifications 750,902 and 750,903.
