Abstract

964,137. Feeding webs. WITTON-JAMES Ltd. June 6, 1963 [April 5, 1962], No. 13180/62. Heading B6B. A paper web is passed over a pipe 1 rotatable on a shaft 2, the ends of which are supported in horizontal slots 6, and the tension of the web holds the shaft, against the action of compression springs 9, adjustable by screws 10, in contact with cells 8. If the web breaks, the springs move the shaft away from the cells, which produce an electric signal to apply a brake to the web unwinding reel, and stop the web-handling machine.
