750,350. Yarn twisting and doubling apparatus. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH. Oct. 1, 1953 [Nov. 21, 1952], No. 26982/53. Class 120 (2). A method of doubling yarns in which a yarn is drawn from a package, tensioned and passed through a rotating guide and then allowed to balloon around a second package from which yarn is drawn and tensioned and then doubled with the yarn from the first package, is characterised in that the yarn from the first package passes through a radial bore of a yarn storage disc after passing through the rotating guide, balloons freely around the second package and is doubled with the second yarn while still ballooning. In the arrangement shown, yarn 4 is passed from a spool 2 direct to the point of doubling 5 via a guide 8, a tensioning device 9 and a further guide 10. The second yarn 3 coming from spool 1 is passed via a guide 11, tensioning device 12 and a further guide 13 through a false twist device in the form of a hollow spindle or rotor 14, rotated by the driving pulley 15, around the storage disc 16 and thence in the form of a balloon to the joining point 5 where the two yarns become twisted together. The spool 2 is mounted on a stator 19 held stationary in known manner on the spindle 14. In a second embodiment, the spindle 14 is replaced by a rotating double pulley device to give the false twist to the thread 3. Specification 679,933 is referred to.
