Abstract

269,421. Hirsch, A. D. Nov. 5, 1926. Spindle - apparatus; twist tubes.- A double twisted thread is formed from a preliminarily twisted thread b and an untwisted yarn g, the two being simultaneously fed axially to a holding point k on a rotating spindle c and thence over a common holding point m to a winding-up bobbin n. The bobbin a of thread b is carried on the spindle c, the thread b therefore reaching the point k unaltered. The yarn g passes over a guide pulley i and is twisted between the said point and the point k, the two threads b, g<1> then passing on to the bobbin n and being twisted together between the point k and the guide pulley m in a sense opposite to their individual twisting. The point k may be formed as a hole in the spindle c and to maintain tension the threads may be passed through a second hole o. The spindle is rotated by the wharl f and is provided with ball-bearings e. Two or more preliminary twisted threads b may be fed from the bobbin a.
