Abstract

547,161. Spinning. COURTAULDS, Ltd., LOVELL, E. J., and HARTLEY, J. K. Feb. 13, 1941, No. 1967. [Class 120 (ii)] In giving thread a high and regular twist by passing it from an annular package contained in a rapidly rotating box through a tension device situated close to the box and rotating therewith to a collecting device, the tension device consists of a tube D carried by the cover B of the box A and situated in the axis thereof, the thread H from the annular package G being passed into one end of the tube, out through a perforation E therein, then in contact with the outer wall of the tube and into a second perforation before it leaves the other end of the tube to be wound up on a bobbin K. The holes may be at different distances from one end of the tube and the thread may pass one or more times around the tube.
