Abstract

A doubling spindle in mounted pref. on a rotating platform and carries a package of core strand from which the core strand is withdrawn and passed downwardly through the doubling spindle and through a radially extending guide tube on the platform to form a balloon orbiting around the spindle. One or more auxiliary radially extending guide tubes are carried on the platform and effect yarns are passed upwardly through the spindle and through respective auxiliary guide tube so that they form balloons around the spindle and are ply twisted around the core yarn at a combining point above the spindle to produce a fancy yarn. The advance rate of the effect yarns may be varied to vary the structure of the resultant fancy yarn, and a false twist device may be associated with each auxiliary guide tube. A variety of novel fancy yarns can be produced.
