Abstract

The process of preparing ice-colours in textile printing, by applying to the fabric a composition containing a water-soluble diazoamino compound, a coupling component, an alkali metal salt of a halogenofatty acid, and a fixed alkali, and developing the print with neutral steam, is improved by using a diazoamino compound with water-solubilizing groups in the stabilizer obtained from a negatively substituted diazotized amine and a weakly basic stabilizer, or from a positively substituted diazotized amine and a stabilizer of more strongly basic character, and also by using the fixed alkali in a quantity of 1 to 2 mols per mol of the coupling component present. Specified salts of halogeno-fatty acids are those of monochloracetic and monochlorpropionic acids. Numerous diazoamino compounds and coupling components are specified and in the Examples the printing pastes also contain glycolmonoethyl ether and starch-tragacanth thickening.
