Abstract
The invention comprises products of the formula <FORM:0783321/IV (b)/1> in which Ar represents the residue of an aromatic radical, M is a monovalent cation, and X is hydrogen or SO3M, and a process of colouring fibres or other objects by impregnating or printing with such products followed by oxidation, e.g. according to processes described in Specifications 730,106 and 753,983. The products may be made by sulphonation of compounds of the formul <FORM:0783321/IV (b)/2> or <FORM:0783321/IV (b)/3> or <FORM:0783321/IV (b)/4> or <FORM:0783321/IV (b)/5> where Y is nitro or acylamino, and conversion of the Y's to amino by reduction or saponification. The sulphonation may be effected with the usual sulphonating agents or with addition products of sulphur trioxide and a tertiary amine, an amide, or an ether. In examples, 3,31-dinitro-4,41 - diaminodiphenyl and 4,6 - dinitro - 1,3 - diaminobenzene are sulphonated to the corresponding sulphamic acids with chlorsulphonic acid in a -picoline, and the products are reduced with iron filings in acetic acid to give 3,31-diamino - 4,41 - disulphamino - diphenyl and 4,6-diamino - 1,3 - disulphamino-benzene respectively. In further examples, the disodium salt of 3,31-diamino-4,41-disulphamino-diphenyl and 4,6 - diamino - 1,3 - disulphamino - benzene are each made into a printing paste with starch tragacanth, sodium chlorate, ammonium vanadate, ammonia, and ammonium chloride or oxalate, which is printed on to cotton, and developed in steam. Specification 498,755, [Group IV], also is referred to.ALSO:The invention comprises products of the formula <FORM:0783321/IV (a)/1> in which Ar represents the residue of an aromatic radical, M is a monovalent cation, and X is hydrogen or SO3M, and a process of colouring fibres or other objects by impregnating, or printing with such products followed by oxidation, e.g. according to processes described in Specifications 730,106 and 753,983.
