Abstract

741,002. Locking levers. MICKLEOVER TRANSPORT, Ltd., and JERVIS, T. W. V. March 8, 1954 [June 4, 1953], No. 15468/53. Class 80(3) A hand brake or other lever 10, of the type which is locked in adjusted position by a spring-loaded sliding latch 14 engaging a ratchet-toothed quadrant 16, the latch being usually raised by an auxiliary lever, is modified so that the latch is raised by axial movement of a hand grip sleeve 23 which is slidable on the lever 10 and replaces the auxiliary lever, the modification rendering accidental release of the brake less likely. The sleeve 23 slides on a tubular extension 20 welded to the channel-section lever 10 and is connected to the latch by a rod 12 and a cross pin 26 which passes through slots in the extension 20. The extension projects beyond the sleeve and is domed at 25. The sleeve may have a ribbed rubber sheath.
