878,767. Ink-ribbon mechanisms. GROSS, H., and GROSS, S. Jan. 31, 1958 [Feb. 4, 1957], No. 3760/57.. Class 100(4) An ink-ribbon reversing mechanism comprises a pair of levers 33 bearing on the ribbon and when the change in diameter is such that e.g. the spool 11 is nearly full, the end 31a of the left-hand lever 33 engages the tail 38 of a latch 34 releasing a pin 28 mounted on a sliding rod 25 coupled to the right-hand spool mechanism. The rod 25 is normally in relaxed position between the tension of two opposed springs 30, Fig. 4, positioned between the arms 31 of the levers 33 and the pins 28, but as the left-hand lever 33 is moved counterclockwise, the left-hand spring 30 becomes increasingly compressed so that when the latch 34 is engaged, the rod 25 moves positively to the right. In so doing the pins 28 disconnect left-hand feeding and detent pawls 19, 40 and permit the right-hand pawls to engage their ratchet wheels 18. The pawls are rocked for ribbon feeding action by a machine connection at 21b, segments 21, and interconnecting link 22.
