Abstract

756,587. Weighing-apparatus. OERTLING, Ltd., L. Feb. 15, 1955, Feb. 16, 1954, No. 4465/54. Class 143 Arresting mechanism for an analytical balance is put in operation and released by depressing a trip bar. Thus, in the arresting position shown in Fig. 1, depression of the bar b turns a lever b<SP>1</SP> about its pivot d against the action of a 'spring c. A quadrant. g, mounted on a shaft h with cams j for operating the arresting mechanism, is thereby rotated clockwise to a releasing position by the pull of an arm f, the latter having a pin f<SP>1</SP> coacting with the upper of two notches g<SP>2</SP> in an arcuate slot g' in the quadrant, and a pivoted connection e to lever b'. Release of the bar then allows spring c to move the end of arm f into the lower notch, as shown in Fig. 3, so that the next depression of the bar causes arm f to move quadrant g anticlockwise to the original arresting position; finally, the position of Fig. 1 is reattained, since 'spring c causes the end of rod f to move back into the upper notch. In a modification, b<SP>1</SP> is a straight lever with a slotted connection to arm f; the latter is pivoted centrally, and is connected to slot g' through an intermediate link (Figs. 4, 5, not shown).
