1,246,320. Selective printing. ELEKTRONISCHE RECHENMASCHINEN -WIS - SENSCHAFTLICHER INDUSTRIEBETRIEB - KARL - MARX - STADT VEB. 6 Nov., 1968, No. 52594/68. Heading B6F. Mechanism for positioning a pulley in a cable and pulley aggregation type selecting mechanism comprises a rod 3 which passes through a pin 4 carrying the pulley, the pin 4 being located in a fixed guide 2, the rod 3 being biased by a spring 6 towards a continuously rotating cam 7 but being linked to a pair of articulated levers 8, 9 whereby, by energization of an electromagnet 10, the rod 3 can be held in its highest position, the pin 4 being at its low position if the right hand end 13 is free to move, so that the rod 3 pivots about the pin 4, and at its high position if the right hand end 13 is fixed, thus acting as a pivot point for the rod 3, and the rod is held upwardly by the electromagnet 10. The end 13 of the rod may be free as shown and selectively engageable with a latch member 14 by de-energization of an electromagnet 17. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the right hand end (18) of the rod (3) is linked to a pair of articulated levers (19, 20) which may pivot freely or be held by an electromagnet (21).
