Abstract

1,044,747. Riveting. BIFURCATED & TUBULAR RIVET CO. Ltd. Aug. 2. 1965 [Aug. 4, 1964], No. 31668/64. Heading B3U. A device for locating components having a hole therein about a receiving pin is described with reference to the operation of transferring washers 28 from a raceway 1 to a pin 8. A carrier member 25 has a first slot 4 which is open towards the raceway and is also open towards the pin 8 and a second slot 3 which is open towards the pin 8 only. The member 25 is mounted on a block 2, Fig. 1 (not shown), which is reciprocated by a pneumatic cylinder 22 between the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and a position in which the axis of the washer is co-incident with the axis of the pin 8. As the block moves forward a pivoted latch 5 engages a lever 7, the end 7a of which is engaged with the end 8a of the pin and lowers the pin. At the end of the forward movement of the block the latch passes over the lever and the pin 8 rises and passes through the washer. The washer is retained in the member 25 as it moves forward by a spring-loaded finger 26. As the block 2 is moved backwards the finger 26 opens and the washer remains on the pin 8. The pivoted latch 5 rotates clockwise against a spring 5b as the block 2 moves backwards and rides ineffectively over the lever 7.
