Abstract

853,398. Clamps; cotters. PRICE CORPORATION, D. W. Jan. 5, 1959 [Jan. 10, 1958], No. 345/59. Classes 44 and 89(2). A fastening-device comprises a barrel 24 having a hole 32, a detent 34 in the hole movable between an inner, retracted and an outer, extended positions, in which it projects laterally from the barrel, a longitudinal-pin 42 in the barrel having means 44 for moving the detent outwardly when the pin is in its operativeposition, a spring 54 biasing the pin to its operative-position, a plunger 60 movable axially of the barrel and having an end which projects from the barrel, the other end of the plunger engaging the pin 42 and the plunger having an aperture 68 engaged by a transverse-pin 70 carried by the barrel. The engaging-surfaces of the pin and plunger are convex and concave respectively. The pin 70 has extensions 78 which form a finger-grip as the plunger is depressed to move the pin 24 to its inoperative position shown. In another arrangement, Fig. 5 (not shown), the extensions 78 of the pin 70 are replaced by a bail the ends of which are pivoted to the pin. In a further arrangement, Fig. 6 (not shown), the extensions 78 are replaced by a flanged bush which is supported on the barrel by projecting- ends of the pin 70.
