Class 44 [Also in Groups XIV and XL(c)] A handle 3 carried on a stem 4 can be pushed against the pressure of a spring 11 to be housed in a recess on a wireless &c. cabinet in which position it is held by a catch, release being effected by pushing it again in the same direction. As shown, the catch is a pivoted cam 8 carried by stem 4 and when it reaches the bottom of its stroke, a fixed abutment 13 engages face 15 on the catch to tip it to the position of Fig. 2, and, on release, the spring 11 causes face 18 to co-operate with a second fixed abutment 12 to hold the handle retracted and to cause the bottom of the catch to clear abutment 13. To free the catch, the stem is pushed down again and abutment 13 tips it over so that the top lies entirely under abutment 12 whereupon spring 11 can raise the stem and handle. In a modification, the handle is carried on two stems interconnected by a shaft and rack and pinion mechanism, the catch being pivoted on a stationary axis and the abutments being on the sliding parts.
