Abstract
672,054. Photographic shutters. KODAK, Ltd. March 1, 1950 [March 2, 1949], No. 5200/50. Class 98 (i). A shutter of the type having a pivoted shutter blade 30 which upon actuation of a pivotally mounted trigger 9 is rotated, by means of a hair-pin spring 25. connected at one end 28 to the blade, through one revolution to uncover and re-cover an exposure aperture 31, comprises a first pivotally-mounted lever 16 carrying a second lever 20 which is pivotally mounted thereon as at 19 and has the other end 26 of the hair-pin spring connected thereto; a pair of coacting latch elements 12, 21 provided on the trigger 9 and second lever 20, respectively, for moving the levers in unison with the trigger to tension the hairpin spring; means, such as a pin 33, on the shutter blade engaging the first lever 16 to hold the blade until the trigger movement is completed when they become disengaged to allow the hairpin spring to drive the shutter blade through an arc, such spring after release reacting on the second lever 20 to rotate it relatively to the first lever 16 and to the trigger 9 so that the latch elements 12, 21 are released, as shown in Fig. 4; and a second spring 17 acting on the first lever to move the two levers in a direction to tension and release the hairpin spring a second time for moving the blade through a second arc to complete the exposure. Preferably the first pivotallymounted lever 16 is L-shaped and is pivoted on the same pivot 10 as the trigger, the pin 33 bearing against the arm 18 of the lever 16, which arm is of such length that the hairpin spring is sufficiently tensioned by the movement of the trigger and levers to make the exposure before the pin slips off the arm to let the spring rotate the shutter blade. The two levers 16, 20 are caused to move together under the action of spring 17 by lug 34 on lever 20 engaging the arm 18 of lever 16.
