Abstract
739,853. Tube joints. BROWN FINTUBE CO. March 19, 1954 [April 3, 1953], No. 8090/54. Class 99 (1). [Also in Group XIII] In a joint between inner and outer tubes 11, 12 means, such as axially extending, annular projections 21, 24, having annular sealing surfaces 22, 25 facing in the same direction are provided on the tubes and a sealing ring 26, e.g. 18-gauge stainless steel, is bonded to those surfaces. Means, such as a split ring 29, which are supported on the tube 12, e.g. on a flange 23, formed with the projection 24, support the ring 26 against internal pressure and clamps the ring against the surfaces 22, 25. A washer 35 may be disposed in the annular space between the projections 21, 24 and to provide additional support for the ring 26. The ring 29 may be recessed as at 31. To resist undesirable forces being imposed upon the ring 26, e.g. due to movement of the tube 11 relative to the tube 12, the ring 29 may be engaged by screws 38 received in a ring 37 secured to the tube 11.
